Another weekend

Sundays. I love Sundays.
I'm well rested, spiritually fed, and and full of good food that David cooked for us and some wonderful friends.
Friday night the girls had riding lessons. David and I were going to go out, but I was exhausted. So we did the norm--he watched a movie that I slept through. This time though, I wasn't even able to stay awake while he was choosing the movie.
Saturday morning we did homework, chores, I did some editing, and David ran errands.

Then, donuts stuffed with ice cream:
The boys couldn't resist the blue ice cream.
David got his in a rice crispy sandwich.
And the art museum:
Claire and Elijah roamed the museum together as they completed a scavenger hunt.
David and Iris were museum buddies.
And I got the crazy one.
On the way to the art museum, Sybil said,
"You can die from drinking too much water."
Then she informed us that she would soon die
because of the amount of water she was drinking.
She didn't die.
But she did use the bathroom at the museum at least 3 times (we were only there about an hour).
On one of those occasions, she ran into the bathroom desperately
and as soon as she closed the stall door, she exclaimed loudly,
"Ahhhhhh, that feels so good!
You can't imagine!
Ahhhhh, I peed on myself,
but that feels so good!"
This is what we get for trying to culture the crazy one.

Crazy Hair Day!

Iris and her crazy hair.
Yesterday was Profession day.
She dressed up as a NASA scientist.
Monday was pajama day and she wore her birthday Harry Potter PJs,
which she wears to school on a regular basis anyway.

Weekend!

The weekend started with the dropping E off to go to a stake camping trip to Flagstaff.
I & C had a horse lesson and then were dropped off at the grandparents' house. On Saturday, they made cards with Aunt Laurie and went to visit Sugar, the horse that lives near her house. All 3 of the girls ride, along with their two cousins.
Today was the Primary Program. Best Sunday of the year!
crazy singing kids +  sitting by my dad in church = Awesome
Our Primary (minus Claire, who snuck into the youth Sunday School class):
David and I spent Saturday in Las Vegas to go to a fundraising party.

But we ditched early and got some amazing sea food at Catch with some great friends.
There's nothing I like more than spending time with my peeps.
Especially this guy.
And naked scuba divers sitting on benches.

Ballet Under the Stars

Tonight we went to Ballet Under the Stars. The Arizona Ballet company is ranked #3 in the country. The setting was beautiful with a nearby fountain that shoots water 560 feet into the air. When it was built, it was the world's tallest fountain, a record that lasted for a decade.

Culturing the kids:
The dancing and costumes were also beautiful,
as were the porta-potties
(where I spent a good amount of time with a few girlies).

Eyebrow Mange

When I think of surprise haircuts, I think of 3-year-olds.
Two weeks ago, E thought his eyebrows were getting a little shaggy,
so he put some paper scissors to them.
Or more accurately, to one of them.
Then he got distracted and didn't finish the job.
This picture isn't focus bc, "Mom, what are you going to do with this picture?!"
Post it for all to see, of course!

A few more weekend tidbits

These two are wonderful together.
And wonderfully awful.
Sybil is stuck to Elijah most days after school.
It's a love/hate relationship.
Iris' first time making cookies all by herself.
Sybil insisted that she wanted to wear her towel like her dad:
We had a food number of people over on Sunday for David's birthday.
David, as always, cooked a scrumptious Sunday meal.
Festivities:
The birthday boy won all of the arm wrestling competitions,
but it remains to be seen whether those were birthday gifts to him.
We had the most wonderful dinner at Maple and Ash,
a new restaurant in town with Hunt and Sarah on Saturday night.
Afterwards, we walked through the cute part of town holding hands
and talked about how lucky we were to have each other.

Can I please not organize these pictures?

It's been a long weekend and I ain't got no energy for photo organization.
On Friday night we had the elders over for dinner. Then we had a no-TV night.
We read, cleaned, did scouts, and had quiet time. It was refreshing.
On Saturday at 1:30am, Claire woke me up bc her ears hurt. I gave her Tylenol and tried to distract her with a movie. Then I turned on my phone light to look at her ear. Before I could shine the light into her hear, I noticed that it looked like little balls were pushing out of her jaw area by her ears. They got bigger as she got more frantic. I woke David up and we drove to the ER. By the time we got there, her whole lower face had ballooned out.
The doc was a turd and transferred us to a children's ER.
Turns out that she had viral parodititis (swollen salivary glands).
The swelling is going down, but she's not completely back to normal yet.

Anyway, here are some pics from David's phone.
This is last weekend. We got some sushi with Elijah.
Here are some professional pics of today's birthday boy.
They were taken because he was featured in the
Phoenix Art Museaum's 60th anniversary edition of the magazine.

This is about a month ago from Iris' bday party.
Ice cream pie with unicorn rainbow ice cream.
Have I posted these yet?
David took E and C shooting with Fernando to celebrate Fernando's bday a few months ago.

David and Hunt climbed My Rainier a few weeks ago.
David said it was the second most challenging hike he's done.
The most challenging was Grand Canyon, running on a shrined ankle R2R2R with Brad Schmitt.

The hiking group:

For Labor Day, David and the older 3 kids were invited to go boating.

Those pictures were an intermission, bc here are more Rainier pics:
I moved this picture halfway up.
Just can't do the rest.

Another intermission.
I'm sure this is from one of the times David took the kids to ice cream without me.
He is the really fun parent.
I'm always happy to stay home and study or cut the grass.
Actually, I prefer those things to ice cream and movies.
Yeah!
This one is from another bday celebration for Clayton and Iris.

Rainier!

ok, I gotta go to sleep now.
peace out
